This 271k yearling purchase, who debuted with a stakes placing, was gelded early in his 3yo season upon losing two NW2 in a row.  In a chat the following year, The Steward expressed her dismay at losing him as a stallion.  I've never regretted the decision because, despite an eventual Grade 1 stakes victory at five, this boy just doesn't have an impressive enough record to attract mares in the highly competitive dirt route division.  When I ordered his headshot, The Steward sent me a pm to give me a choice of artists, and referred to him as "our boy".   With being gelded and no rush to retire, TORPEDO IN MOTION  became my all-time leading earner -- the first to hit the 700k mark, then the 800k mark, and then the 900k -- and battled with Steward-bred turf sprinter Thousands as Magic Raven's most winning horse.  The decision was made to pension him after his 8yo season, when there seemed little hope of his reaching the seven-figure mark at nine.  This headshot has a fuzzy warmth in its simplicity, and I particularly like the thickness of the mane.
